講演タイトル | "Virus-induced silencing of host genes for functional genomics studies in plants: An update on its power and use" <要旨> Virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) is a useful tool for host gene function studies. Although most easily utilized by virologists experienced in virus manipulation, the technology is straightforward for non-virologists to incorporate into their gene analysis repertoire. VIGS is transient and rapid, generally inexpensive and not labor intensive, effective in multiple tissues and capable of single or family gene knockdown. Its proper use, though, requires understanding that at least is partially shared with all RNAi technology. Both VIGS-specific and RNAi-general controls and experimental designs helpful in obtaining clear and reliable results will be presented. Methods to improve VIGS will also be discussed. Examples from the literature of the strength of VIGS, the proper controls and designs for VIGS studies and ways to improve this technology will be presented. |
